Our Approach to Massage Therapy

Our massage therapy services offer physical and psychological benefits to all patients. We work on a wide range of clients: from top athletes looking increase range of motion through sports massage to business professionals seeking muscle tension release, and everyone in between. We will tailor your massage experience to meet your individual needs, whatever they may be. The benefits of regular massage therapy are nearly endless, and include the following:

  • Lowered your heart rate
  • Reduced daily stress and anxiety
  • Improved posture
  • Increased circulation
  • Supported relaxation
  • Increased range of motion
  • Overall experience of wellness.

Our massage therapists specialize in the following techniques:

Swedish Massage.
Also called “classic massage,” Swedish massage is the most popular of all specialties. Pressure is applied in a series of long and flowing strokes, often towards the heart. The objective is to increase blood circulation and promote relaxation.

Sports Massage Therapy.
This type of massage is geared toward athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers. Every sports massage can be catered specifically to support that athlete’s sport of choice. We prioritize focusing on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements.

Deep Tissue.
Considered the popular favorite of all massage therapies, deep tissue massage promotes relaxation and tension release simultaneously, and is an excellent way to ease muscle tightness in specific areas. In this technique, pressure is applied to a specific joint, muscle, or muscle group. Incremental pressure is applied deeper into the soft tissue, reviving and energizing sore and tired muscles.

Lymphatic Massage.
This form of massage helps to unclog the lymph system, whose congested pathways can cause soreness, aches and pains, and flu-like symptoms. Beginning in a clockwise motion on the body, a therapist will use massage to manually cleanse a client’s lymph system.

Thai Yoga Massage.
Also known was “assisted yoga,” Thai yoga massage soothes by means of stretching and loosening the body. This specialized therapy may include pulling and cracking of extremities and walking on or arching the client’s back.

Hot Stone Massage.
As its name implies, deep, penetrating rocks are heated and placed on a client’s back to stimulate the blood circulation and healing in the body. Swedish strokes are sometimes blended in to promote circulation and enhance relaxation.

Foot, Hands and Wrists Massage.
A lesser known but increasingly significant specialty, this form of massage aims to release stress from abused and overworked hands and feet. This form of massage is most often requested and enjoyed by individuals with computer jobs, beauty operators, musicians, secretaries, and anyone who works predominantly with their hands and are on their feet most of the day.

Prenatal Massage.
By employing specifically developed techniques, discomfort related to pregnancy can be helped and eased. The growth of a baby in womb can lead to a shift of the mother’s weight distribution, which alters the body’s center of gravity and may create joint and muscle pains. Other benefits of this form of massage include easing back pain, muscle cramps, swelling and insomnia due to discomfort by the mother.

Body Alignment
This type of massage session addresses the dysfunctional patterns in the body by doing deep tissue muscle releases in a specific order that the brain and body understand. It is followed by the muscle release session done fully clothed in your workout attire.

  • There are 5 Body Alignment Releases:
    1. Lower Release
    2. Core Release
    3. Shoulder Release
    4. Neck Release
    5. Custom Release

Neuro-Muscular Calibration
Neuro-Muscular Calibration is a series of movements made by the client in a specific order to the location of where the client’s point of pain is. Pairing Neuro-Muscular Calibration with Body Alignment work helps the new muscle patterns that have been introduced during release work to stick and hold in the body.

Diaphragm Activation
Diaphragm activation is simply applying pressure to the diaphragm to essentially turn it on. Activating the diaphragm and reducing, if not, getting rid of stress breathing fills the lower and upper lobes of the lungs increasing our oxygen intake by approximately 70-75%. An increase in oxygen in our blood feeds our muscle and in turn creates better more oxygenated tissue that increases performance.

Meet Adrianne Camacho, our Neuro-Muscular Massage Therapist…

Adrianne is our neuromuscular Calibration Massage Therapist. Adrianne knows first hand the correlation between improper posture and back pain, as she has been a CMT for 4 years now. After suffering a knee injury and having knee surgery, Adrianna never fully regained her full range of motion and couldn’t figure out why until her Acupuncturist explained what happens to the muscle groups that are shortened during surgery. Athletes with injuries need to undergo lengthening through massage therapy. After that conversation, Adrianna decided she was going to make a career change to help those that are recovering from injuries or surgeries, as well as helping to prevent injuries and avoiding surgeries that may not be necessary.

Adrianne is certified, trained and experienced in specific and effective treatment techniques for rehabilitating all sports-specific injuries, orthopedic disorders, chronic pain, and neuromuscular logical disorders. She specializes in Sports Massage, Corrective Bodywork, Neuromuscular Calibration, Kinesio Taping, Diaphragm Activation, Cupping, and Corrective Exercises. Adrianne provides rehabilitation, balance training, fall prevention training and vestibular rehabilitation.

I didn’t know what to expect when I first came to Jose for a massage because I had never had a massage before. But I can confidently say that I walked out feeling more relaxed and happier. It was a great experience. The therapeutic massage helped with my posture and headache. And, the staff is very professional and caring.

I spend many hours working at a desk, and I have a lot of issues with my lower back. I’ve been coming to Jose for more than 2 years and he is the one who has helped me get through tax season and many other difficult times throughout the work year. I’d recommend Jose to anyone.

I’ve been coming to Jose for about 4 years. I was recommended to come to Jose by my personal trainer after complaining about my shoulders being stiff, having headaches, and having lower back pain. As soon as I got here, they treated me really well and I haven’t had any problems since. I’d recommend them to anyone who has had similar pain problems.
